The positive effect of the company in supporting Oman is witnessed through job creation, which has jumped from 40 staff in 2003 to 274 in 2014, and also in the support of local suppliers and businesses which in turn stimulates further growth and job creation in the local economy.
The majority of the company's employees have considerable experience in the travel retail industry and with the company. Approximately, 45% of the employees have over 5 years of working experience with the Company.
The Omanisation ratio of the Company stands at 70% compared to a stipulated minimum of 20% of the retail industry. The Company is committed to increase the Omanisation ratio by giving more opportunities to locals in accordance with the Omanisation policy of the Sultanate. The Company has also supported the promotion of Omani nationals within the Company with several local staff members who started as junior sales staff and Porters progressing to levels of duty managers and department heads.
As part of its commitment for excellent customer service, MDF employs a team of multilingual retail staff. Our retail team comprised of 13 different nationalities which support the requirement of operating in an international environment. MDF also has a continuous programme of staff training, which places emphasis on customer relations, sales techniques, product knowledge, merchandising and communication skills. Training programmes are conducted locally as well as overseas with the involvement of travel retail experts. Moreover, the existing organisational culture has significantly contributed in creating a harmonized working environment with highly committed employee cadre, which can be considered as one of the key success factors of the Company.
