Mr. Al Batashi could not believe he was the winner and thought one of his friends had played a practical joke on him. It was only when Mr. O'Connor confirmed that 0767 was the winning ticket that he knew it was not a joke.
The winning ticket was one of 1,250 tickets that were purchased over the last nine months in Muscat Duty Free. The winner was picked from our giant draw drum by a random customer who had just purchased some gifts for her trip home in the departures shop.
Mr. Al Batashi purchased the ticket along with his uncle who turned out to be very lucky! Lucky passenger flies away on a Harley-Davidson at Muscat Duty Free
Wed, 12 December 2012
One lucky passenger flew in by plane to Oman, but flew away as the lucky winner of a red Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide at the Biker's Delight Raffle Draw held on 12th December, 2012. Mr. Omar Al Shamyleh from Jordan picked up his winning ticket while on a short business trip.
Although he lives and works in Oman, he never owned a bike in the country. "It was a fantastic dream come true,"Omar confessed in great excitement. "The Omani roads offer some of the very best scenic sights in the Gulf and I can't wait to cruise up into the mountains on my Dyna Super Glide."
Winning ticket, number 0369, was just one of a thousand tickets sold at the Muscat Duty Free Biker's Delight Raffle Draw Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide. Mr. Tom Byrne, General Manager of Muscat Duty Free, operated by Oman Sales & Services, explained that the ticket was picked out at random by another passenger who happened to be just passing through the duty free store. "The 2011 model Harley is a fantastic bike and we were all very excited – and a wee bit sad – to see it go," he confessed, somewhat wryly it seemed.
Mr. Byrne, together with Pat O' Connor (Operations Manager for Muscat Duty Free), and Mr. Saeed Sulaiyem Saeed Al Kindi (Supervisor from the Department of Commercial Affairs),were all present for the raffle draw."Most importantly," Mr. Byrne continued happily, "It just goes to show that shopping at duty free is always a different and memorable experience, especially when you actually fly away from our store not by airplane…but by motorbike!."
The next raffle draw Muscat Duty Free Biker's Delight Raffle for Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 CA 2013 will further surprise and delight airport passengers at Muscat Duty Free. Who knows how people will leave the airport that time!
Muscat Duty Free Turns Memories of Oman into Fast Lane Fantasy
Mon, 12 November 2012
What better way to remember the wonders of Oman than from behind the wheel of a fabulous luxury car! For one lucky lady this dream has just became reality thanks to the Muscat Duty Free Dream Car Draw.
The big draw took place on November 6th in the retail space of Muscat Duty Free, attended by senior management from Oman Sales Company, and Mr. Saeed Sulaiyem Saeed Al Kindi, of the Department of Commercial Affairs. Mr. Tom Byrne, GM of Muscat Duty Free, requested a passenger, who just happened to shopping in duty free, to pick the winning slip from a carousel of twelve hundred tickets. Winning number 0375 belonged to an American lady called Mrs. Lois Pigg who had recently visited Oman.
Now, Lois certainly has a lot more to take back with her from Oman than simply great memories. For starters she will soon take delivery of an international specification Mercedes Benz C250 Coupe AMG in Obsidian Black with Sahara beige leather interior. The car will be freighted to Abu Dhabi for her collection. Her husband, Jeffrey, said on the telephone: "she had been planning on buying a new car upon returning to the States. But not in her wildest dreams had she bargained for a luxury Mercedes sports car." He laughed incredulously: "and certainly not from Oman!"
Lois had been celebrating the 2012 New Year at Intercontinental Hotel with her family. She had filled out her lottery ticket at the last minute whilst shopping in Muscat Duty Free before the final call for her outbound flight. And just in case you are wondering, dear reader, at the incredible 'rotten' good luck of a tourist wining the car and not a resident of Oman, Jeffrey took pains to point out that his wife had lived in Oman for five years previously, knew the country well, and considered it to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Tom Byrne neatly summed up Lois' good fortune: "The truth is, Lois may never get to meet the passenger who picked her lucky number. But I am sure that, whenever she gets behind the wheel of her Mercedes C250 AMG, she will always think of beautiful Oman first, and all her friends who live here." We all look forward to Lois visiting Oman again soon, but here's hoping she will let someone living a bit closer to home win at the next Muscat Duty Free Dream Car Draw!
